Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What ages do you service?

A: We service children from as young as 6 weeks - 5 years old and after school ages 5-12 years old. 

​

Q: Are you a licensed daycare/preschool?

A: Yes, we are licensed by the New York City Department of Health & Mental Hygiene/Bureau of Daycare.

​

Q: What is your staff to child ratio?

A: Our staff to child ratio is 6 to 1. 2 to 1 for infants

​

Q: What are the qualifications of your staff and are they screened?

A: All of our staff have their 30 hours of child development training, First Aid & CPR & ongoing training throughout the year. Every staff member is thoroughly screened by fingerprint, background check and a personal interview process.

Q: Does your facility have an outdoor space, and how often do the children go out?

A:Yes, we do have private outdoor space.Weather permitting the children go out every day.

 

Q: Do you provide meals, and how often do the children eat?

A: Yes we do provide meals. Breakfast, lunch and snacks. Children under 1 parents must provide their food and bottles.

Q: How frequently are diapers changed?

A: This depends on each child, but normally speaking the younger the child the more often their diaper needs to be changed. Our caregivers and teachers are trained to check the children diapers regularly. Parents are responsible for providing diapers, wipes, creams  and change of clothing for their child

​

Q: Do you provide potty training and/or does my child have to be potty trained to start?

A: Yes we do provide potty training. The family and staff will work together as a collective unit to effectively potty train your child. 

​

Q: Do the children nap? 

A: Yes, the children nap. Infants may require 1-2 naps. Older children nap once per day between 12:30-2:30 pm

Q: How do you communicate with parents? 

A. Outside of daily verbal communication upon dropping off and picking up, we communicate with parents using an app called Remind as well as the HiMama platform. 

​

Q: Do you offer part-time care?

A: Yes, we offer a 2,3 and 4- day a week service. Part-time spots are limited and depends on available space

​

Q: Is there a transition period for my child when they start?

A: Yes, there is a transitional period the first week. Your child will be with us for two hours the first day, three hours the second day, 4 hours for the third and fourth day and seven hours the fifth and final day of transition.  This transition schedule is mandatory and is set by the school for the emotional health and well-being of the child.

Q: How often are you closed?

A: We are a 12 month program. We observe most holidays such as Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years. We are also closed for vacation 2 weeks annually. 

​

Q: Do I still pay tuition even though the school is closed for holidays, vacation

A: Yes, you are paying for a space at Seeds of Life Child Care. We are a 12 month operating program and deserve a vacation. 

​

Q: How do we go about arranging a tour and can we bring our child with us?

A: To arrange a tour go to our contact us page and fill out the form and yes your child can absolutely come. We look forward to meeting the children during the tour/interview. Someone will get back to you within 48 hours.
